Daal chilla mix recipes

Appam

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dal chilla mix
  • Vegetables of your choice (onion, coriander, corn capsicum, etc)
  • 1 tsp oil for greasing
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • Salt as per taste
  • Water as required

Method

  1. In a bowl take dal chilla mix, add water and mix properly, to get pouring consistency batter.
  2. Now add ginger paste and salt and again mix properly.
  3. You can now add vegetables of your choice.
  4. Heat the appam pan, grease the pan and add the mix. Cover the pan and cook for 10-15 mins on medium flame till they turn brown and crispy.
  5. Now appam are ready to serve. You can serve it with green chutney.

Dal Chilla

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dal chilla mix
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1½ cup water
  • Salt as per taste

Method

  1. In a bowl take dal chilla mix, add water and mix properly, to get pouring consistency batter.
  2. Heat the pan and add a scoopful of batter, spread it evenly on pan.
  3. Drizzle some oil around the edges of chilla and cook on medium flame till the chilla looks crispy and brown.
  4. Flip the chilla and cook from other side for a minute.
  5. Similarly make chilla of remaining batter.

Dhokla

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dal chilla mix
  • 1 water
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 green chilli

Tempering

  • 1 tsp oil
  • ¼ tsp mustard seed
  • ½ tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • salt as per taste
  • Juice of half lemon
  • 2-3 curry leaves
  • 1 small chilli
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 coriander for garnishing

Method

  1. In a bowl mix dal chilla along with water to get pouring consistency batter.
  2. Add salt turmeric powder, sugar, ginger garlic paste, chilli and mix properly.
  3. Pour the batter on greased pan.
  4. Steam for 15-20 mins in double boiler.
  5. On other side prepare tempering, heat the oil in pan.
  6. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves and salt. Stir once.
  7. Then add lemon juice, sugar, green chili and water to tempering, bring the mixture to boil.
  8. When dhokla is cooked, remove it from pressure cooker and add the tempering on dhokla.
  9. Now add some coriander and sesame seeds and cut the dhokla in cube pieces and serve

Mix dal Wada

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dal chilla mix
  • ¼ cup onion
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • ½ tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp coriander
  • 1 chopped chilli
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • Salt as per taste

Method

  1. In a bowl mix dal chilla along with very little water.
  2. Add salt, turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste, chilli, onion and mix properly.
  3. Grease with oil and prepare small balls, flatten the balls into vada by pressing.
  4. Similarly make vada of remaining dough.
  5. Now shallow fry the vada in pan till they turn brown and crispy.
  6. Serve hot with chutney.
