Navratri special- Sweet Potato Tikki

Makes about 6 tikkis

Ingredients

Sweet potatoes – 2 medium or 500 grams, boiled, peeled and mashed
Chaat masala – 1 teaspoon ** Check notes below
Amchur powder (dried mango powder) – 1 teaspoon
Cumin powder – 1 teaspoon
Red chili powder – 1 teaspoon
Fennel seeds powder – 1 ½ teaspoons
black salt (sendha namak) – to taste
Peanuts – 2 tablespoons, crushed
Coriander leaves – 2-3 tablespoons, chopped finely
Green chilies – 1 small, chopped finely
Lemon juice – 2 teaspoons
Singhare ka atta or rajgira atta – 2-3 tablespoons or as needed
Oil or ghee – as required.

Method –

Boil or pressure cook the sweet potatoes and mash them.

Add all the spice powders (amchur powder, cumin powder, red chili powder and sendha namak) along with chopped green chilies, coriander leaves and crushed peanuts.

Squeeze a lemon.

Knead it to make a tikki by adding the flour for binding.

Make 6 tikkis out of it and shallow fry them on a nonstick pan with little oil/ghee.

Serve them hot with coriander or coconut chutney.
